Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
WHOA
LJ just removed someone from my friends-list COMPLETELY RANDOMLY, and with no input at all from me. It's sorted out now, but DAMN, don't do that, LJ! Happily the person in question emailed me - so, if we are friends and have interacted substantially on LJ/IRL, and it appears that I have randomly defriended you (and we have not had a massive row or anything) with no explanation, please let me know. And LJ, stop sucking. Thanks!

At the risk of being annoying, but with the intention of being helpful, I will note that this entry is locked so if that happened to someone they won't be able to read it.

Oooh, that happened to someone else I know too! LJ apparently messed with all their filters and groups so people could and couldn't read things they were and weren't meant to. Of course when they posted about it I just assumed it was an elaborate and sneaky way of them telling me they HATED me and had taken me off all their lists, but perhaps not. Unless you are in league, of course.

Actually I reckon it's lj being like Big Brother, just to mess with our minds.

(Speaking of which - OMG! I can't decide whether I really dislike Sylvia for being so changable or whether I basially like her but thing her behaviour is wrong. ALSO! The Welsh girl saying 'I can see your pen1s!' was one of the funniest things I've seen on telly for ages)

See, I don't get how the person found out about the filters thing, unless they did a post to a filter and suddenly found someone answering to go 'er, why are you telling me about this?'

I think for past filtered posts it's probably not going to make any trouble (that's even IF things are going wrong) cos folk won't be looking back through to see if they can suddenly read stuff. I'd hope not anyway. (That said, I messed up ALL my filters ages ago cos I decided to make all my journal private before this year and now I'm totally suspicious if I make it all 'friends only' again all the filtery things will show up to everyone. Sigh.)

That happened me once. Neither of us noticed for a week or two. I assumed I'd hit the remove button by mistake.

I'd like if there was a way of seeing your friends history. I like the marnanel thing, but that's no good if you want to see who you've deleted.

Semagic, the Windows LJ client, keeps a local copy of your friends list. When you update it, Semagic notifies you, and keeps a record, of any changes. I wouldn't bother using Semagic only for that feature, but, as I use it as an LJ client for posting, it's a happy side-effect.

Handy. I just use the interbet to post, but if I ever do decide to use a client (unlikely unless there's one for linux), I'll keep that in mind.

I use Logjam on Linux. It's not all that sophisticated but it does have some useful functions apart from just "type entry, post it" (which is the way I use it 99% of the time). I find it a lot more handy than the web interface.

Happy belated birthday!

(I sent an e-card to yiskah@livejournal.com, assuming that it would be forwarded. It took until today to bounce.)
