Christmas eve at work. So bored. The phone has rung all of three times this morning, and there isn't even any post for me to sort through. I am amusing myself by reading fanfic in fandoms I don't understand. Yay!

For those of you who are similarly bored, anonymous commenting is on. Tell me things, make up stories, whatever. Have at it!

Am I being racist if I think that someone starting a question with 'am I being racist..' isn't necessarily being racist?

How about a story:
(Anonymous)
2008-12-24 11:22 am UTC (link)
Last night I couldn't sleep so I slipped out of bed, padded down the stairs and let myself silently out of the house. I wandered down the pavement in my bare feet and very few clothes but the sky was so bright and my heart was so splashy and bold that I really couldn't feel the cold. No one was about at all and nearly all the houses were dark. I walked and walked at a slow steady pace, my breath visible and my arms slightly swinging, my posture upright and strong, alive. About a hundred houses along someone's window was open, the curtain billowing out under the sash. As I got closer I realised I could hear a woman singing...

Oooh I do that. Esepcially the Bright House ones. They charge SO much interest - when you look at the little obligatory calculation thing they have to show at the bottom of the screen the final price is about double the ticket price. It's utterly sh1te how the poorest people end up paying the most for things, having to travel the furtherst by rubbish transport to get to stuff, having to take time and energy to pay for stuff at post office counters cos they can't get credit and do internet payments like richer people etc etc. BOO.

Are you tired of dealing with a pot of boiling water?

Are you tired of dealing with the incredibly difficult and hard-to-handle technology of a pasta strainer?

Would you like to both drain AND strain your pasta at the same time?

Well let me introduce to you the Pasta Express, which can do all of this AND turn out entire meals for your whole family.

It is a tube with a strainer on top.
It has thermal technology which allows it to cook anything you ever wanted to cook.
It is the Jesus of cooking.

Even though I have a relatively secure job at a relatively recession-proof place, some savings, and a lot of external support from family and friends should everything collapse around me, this whole recession thing is terrifying me like the idea of nuclear war used to terrify me when I was a wee bairn. And I don't understand economics very well, so I can't even rationalise it into un-scariness.

I can't actually think of any scandal as yet, but would like to share with the world that someone at my dad's work has given him a cheese selection for Xmas, and even wrapped in wrapping paper plus whatever packaging it's in plus a plastic bag, it is still REEKING the fridge out. Which is dissuading me from eating food I don't need to be eating, but is also foul.

There is NOTHING TO DO here, especially when you're on reception, because even when people phone, there's barely anyone in that you can pass them onto. Which was a bit upsetting when a woman phoned in tears a while ago.

I am a bit fearful of my recent singledom status, because aside from all the hurting and rawness [and 'has he got a new girlfriend yet?'] is the worry that I will never ever fancy anyone ever again and will DIE ALONE. I hate being single, and I hate that I hate being single. /pathetic

I also hate my new dark hair - can you tell who this is yet...? ;)

Aw, no, don't hate your new dark hair! It really, really suits you. (But if you hate it that much, you can always go back to blonde.)

I am ashamed to admit that I also hate being single, and I hate that I hate it; it just takes up so much mental energy that I think would be better spent. I have no doubt that you will fancy someone again very soon, and there's NO WAY that you're going to die alone.

You are from Glasgow. I am also from Glasgow. You have 'drawing on fruit' as an interest, and I have 'writing on bananas' as one. Coincidence? Well, yes. I am not friends with you, I just get bored and read the friends lists of friends. Although I'm not all THAT bored right now, because I am making weird chocolate brownies with beans in them. Here, have some free music I just found: http://www.wearederosa.com/ I don't know if you'll like it, because I don't know you at all, but *shrugs*. They're a bit Mogwai-ish, I suppose.
