oh, and...

You people have totally ground me down with all your obsessive knitting talk; I used to really enjoy knitting when I was a kid, and once even made a fantastic red scarf for my grandmother (which I later found lining the cat's basket; I suppose, in hindsight, a wooly scarf is not the best gift for someone who lives in Australia), and maybe the time has come to give it another go.

Questions:

1. Where to start? Stitch 'n' Bitch? Somewhere else?

2. For those of you who knit - when do you knit? I really would like to give this a go, but I don't watch television, and once I get my bike's wheels pumped up I won't be spending much time on public transport, and I'm out a lot, and so I can't think when I would knit so that it wouldn't cut into my reading time (which is, of course, sacred). Is knitting before bed relaxing? Perhaps I could knit at choir, when not singing of course, or would that be rude? Perhaps I am idiotically trying to cram something into an already overloaded schedule? Perhaps I am overthinking all of this?

3. You only need, like, needles and wool, right? Because I don't want to spend loads of money on Special Knitting Kit only to find that I hate knitting and it makes my fingers hurt. The outlay for wool doesn't really bother me, as my pride will compel me to finish a product once I start, but I don't want a load of other stuff lurking around the house, mocking me, if I decide to abandon knitting.
